DVD to ATV/ATV2 Mac

AppleTV(ATV) is a great media streamer if you have a lot of iTunes videos and movies. However, ATV doesn’t play DVDs at all. People often found enormous interest to play DVD on ATV simply because DVDs are the most obvious and common source for movies, and many people already have a large collection of DVD. After years, most Apple TV users found the most ideal solution for playing DVDs on the Apple TV is to rip them to H.264 files with AAC audio, just like Apple uses on some of its HD movie trailers.

Mac DVD Ripper has been working on ripping DVD to h.264 for years. Using Mac DVD Ripper, it can bypass the CSS protection if there is any, copy the DVD date to Mac and convert DVD to h.264 at the same time to playback on ATV.

Now, let’s get to the step by step guide on how to play DVD on ATV from Mac with Mac DVD Ripper.

Step 1 Rip DVD to H.264 video

Now run Mac DVD Ripper and load your DVD movies to the program. Set the output format at "General Video > H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Video". Then start converting it!

Note, you can change the output destination at "destination". Or keep it by default and quickly locate the h.264 videos by clicking "open folder" after conversion.

Step 2 Import H.264 videos to iTunes

Run iTunes, drag and drop the H.264 video to the library.

Step 3 Using AirPlay to stream movies to ATV
Find and select the AirPlay button on iTunes, and then choose ATV.

After a pause of about two seconds, the H.264 video will appear on the HDTV attached to your ATV.
